Sušec Canyon
Location and Access
Sušec Canyon is located in the stunning Soča Valley region, just a 10-minute drive from the town of Bovec. The canyon lies near the village of Srpenica, close to the Soča River. When driving towards Srpenica, you pass the village of Žaga. Turn left at the sign for Srpenica 1—the same spot where rafters enter the river. Instead of heading to the river, continue right towards the mountains. You’ll reach a large parking area with a sign “Canyoning Sušec”, marking the starting point of your adventure.
Before entering the canyon, it’s recommended to gear up and tie your wetsuit around your waist for the approach. The ascent to Sušec Canyon takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and requires moderate fitness. The uphill trail follows a historic WWI mule track leading you through pristine nature.
While the canyon itself is technically easy and suitable for beginners, the hike should not be underestimated. Once at the entrance, the fun begins.
